EA Classics Wing Commander fans finally get a clean Steam storefront. Electronic Arts put 25 classic games on Steam, GOG and the EA App on 5 November 2026, including restored Wing Commander Anniversary Editions with higher-resolution FMV from master tapes. EA’s classics launch post and Wing Commander CIC spell out which titles are full restorations, which are faithful ports, and how the 5–19 November sale pricing works. Here is a clean guide for Indian PC players shopping the EA Classics Wing Commander drop.
EA Classics Wing Commander and friends: 25 titles, seven restorations
EA says seven games received quality-of-life updates and higher-resolution full-motion video restored from master tapes:
- Road Rash: 30th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander: 35th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander II: Vengeance of the Kilrathi: 35th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander III: Heart of the Tiger: 30th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander IV: The Price of Freedom: 30th Anniversary Edition
- Wing Commander Prophecy: 30th Anniversary Edition
- Privateer 2: The Darkening: 30th Anniversary Edition
The other 18 titles are faithful classic ports. Per EA’s launch note they include Wing Commander: Privateer, Academy and Armada, Strike Commander, Theme Hospital, Crusader: No Remorse and No Regret, Ultima I through IX (including Ultima VII Complete and Ultima VIII Gold), plus Ultima Underworld I and II. That mix is why the EA Classics Wing Commander news also matters to Theme Hospital and Ultima collectors.
What the Anniversary Editions actually add
EA’s restoration work started after Senior Producer Jim Vessella found a physical media vault at EA’s Redwood Shores campus in March 2022—nearly 20,000 archival assets, including master tapes for Wing Commander and Road Rash. The team digitised an estimated 2,500 hours of footage before shipping these Anniversary Editions.
Wing Commander and Wing Commander II bundle Kilrathi Saga features (digital music, re-orchestrated soundtrack, optional drop-away cockpits) plus community Wcdx and WCAT quality-of-life tools. Wing Commander III and IV ship with community enhancement patches, source-master FMV restored frame-by-frame (EA cites over 1,000 FMV scenes across both titles), optional upscaled video, and Kilrathi Saga support on III. Prophecy restores more than 150 FMV scenes and includes the Secret Ops episodes. Privateer 2 restores over 100 FMV scenes from tapes found by the original cinematics director, with an alternate Director’s Cut colour pass and community enhancement patches. Road Rash adds a relicensed soundtrack (Soundgarden, Paw, Hammerbox, Monster Magnet, Swervedriver, Therapy?) plus restored FMV and modern QoL such as up to 60 FPS and native controller support.
If you already owned digital Wing Commander games on GOG or the EA App, EA says those copies upgrade to the Anniversary Editions for free. Wing Commander CIC’s store index remains the best checklist when you compare Steam, GOG and EA App SKUs.
Pricing window (5–19 November 2026)
Wing Commander CIC reports MSRP of $9.99 for the most heavily updated games (Wing Commander III, IV, Prophecy, Privateer 2 and Road Rash) and $4.99 for the other twenty, with Steam, GOG and EA App running about 50% off through 19 November (about $4.98 and $2.49 during the sale). Steam also offers a Wing Commander bundle with an extra bundle discount. Local storefront currency will vary; check Steam India for the live rupee price before you buy.
Why it matters
These are the first Steam storefront releases for several Wing Commander editions, with master-tape FMV that older digital copies never had.
