Gen.G VALORANT just locked two of the Pacific region’s biggest free agents for 2027. On 6 November 2026 the organisation confirmed Lee “Dambi” Hyuk-kyu and Kim “MaKo” Myeong-kwan, joining Kim “t3xture” Na-ra and Kim “Karon” Won-tae while the fifth starter stays unannounced. GINX, Hotspawn and VLR.gg all covered the reveal from t3xture’s SOOP stream and Gen.G’s social posts. Here is what Indian VALORANT fans need to know about the Gen.G VALORANT rebuild.

Gen.G VALORANT 2027: MaKo and Dambi confirmed

According to GINX, Dambi arrives as a duelist from Nongshim RedForce after helping win Masters Santiago in March 2026 with a 3-0 grand final over Paper Rex, and taking tournament MVP. MaKo joins as a controller from Kiwoom DRX, leaving the Vision Strikers lineage for the first time since 2021. Gen.G also confirmed Karon will stay for 2027 alongside t3xture, which keeps two pieces of the Masters Shanghai 2024 championship core intact.

  • Dambi — duelist, ex-Nongshim RedForce, Masters Santiago MVP
  • MaKo — controller, ex-DRX / Vision Strikers, Pacific veteran since 2021
  • t3xture and Karon — retained from the Masters Shanghai 2024 core
  • Fifth starter — still on trial, per t3xture on the announcement stream

Hotspawn notes MaKo attended eight international tournaments with DRX, with third-place finishes at Champions 2022 and 2025 among the team’s best results. Dambi’s 2026 run with Nongshim took the side from Ascension into a Masters title, with Neon performances that defined much of the year’s duelist meta before later nerfs forced role experiments.

Why Gen.G rebuilt the Gen.G VALORANT roster now

Hotspawn calls this Gen.G’s biggest roster overhaul in years. GINX reports that Gen.G missed every international event in 2026 despite a 5-0 group stage at Pacific Stage 2, then fell in the playoffs to Nongshim and T1. On 3 November the team released Ash, Efina and coach peri. Both new signings come from organisations that missed Korea’s two VCT partner slots for 2027-2028, which went to Gen.G and T1.

MaKo became available after DRX released most of its roster in October (GINX says the transfer window opened around 22 October). Nongshim parted with Dambi on 20 October. That free-agency window let Gen.G pair a proven controller with the region’s breakout duelist while keeping two Shanghai winners on the same side of the server.

The irony is sharp: Dambi helped knock Gen.G out of Pacific Stage 2 playoffs in August with a 2-1 win for Nongshim. Now he wears Gen.G colours for the partner-era VCT.

Roles still to solve on Gen.G VALORANT

Four of five starting places are filled. t3xture said the final player is being trialled and that in-game leadership has not been locked after Gen.G used two different callers in 2026 (VLR names Lakia and Efina as the season’s IGLs). Coaching staff named across reports include solo as head coach and HSK as coach, with Raxcal still under contract through 2028 though his 2027 starting role is unclear.

VLR notes an obvious role overlap: MaKo and Karon are both primary controllers, while t3xture and Dambi are established duelists. Among the four announced players there have been almost no Initiator maps, so the fifth arrival is widely expected to fill Initiator. No date has been given for that reveal.

Road to VCT Pacific Kickoff 2027

bo3.gg reports that VCT Pacific Kickoff 2027 runs from 11 to 31 January 2027. Until the fifth Gen.G VALORANT starter is named, treat the current four as the confirmed core and expect trial scrims to decide the last rifle. GoPlays11 will update when Gen.G posts the final seat, and Indian fans can follow related coverage from our GoPlay11 guide hub and esports desk.

Why it matters

For Pacific fans in India, Gen.G’s partner status means Kickoff access without open qualifiers, and this duo changes the region’s power map overnight. Watch for the fifth name before the mid-January 2027 Kickoff window.
