World of Warcraft: Forever, Blizzard’s reimagined take on classic WoW, launches worldwide today. If you are wondering about the WoW Forever launch time in India, servers open at 4:30 am IST on Thursday 5 November. Below we cover the exact timing, the new zones and races, the last-minute class changes and when the first raids open.

WoW Forever launch time in India and worldwide

Blizzard’s launch announcement sets one global release moment, 23:00 UTC on 4 November. Here is how that converts:

  • India (IST): 4:30 am, Thursday 5 November
  • Americas (PST): 3:00 pm, 4 November
  • UK (GMT): 11:00 pm, 4 November
  • Europe (CET): 12:00 am, 5 November
  • Korea (KST): 8:00 am, 5 November

The IST time is our conversion from Blizzard’s UTC listing.

8 things to know before you log in

1. A full 1–60 journey with more than 1,000 new quests

Blizzard says Forever expands the Eastern Kingdoms and Kalimdor with new and reimagined zones and “more than 1,000 new quests across the level 1–60 journey”. This is not a straight copy of 2004 WoW.

2. Four new destinations

The new areas are Mount Hyjal, set after Archimonde’s defeat; Shen’dralas, between Mulgore and Desolace; the Riverglades, with more than 150 quests across much of the mid-30s to mid-40s; and Zephras Isle, a skybound starting zone for levels 1 to 12.

3. A new playable race: the Skyborne

The Skyborne, also called the shen’dorei, start on Zephras Isle. Horde-aligned Windshapers can become Shaman, and Alliance-aligned High-Order Skyborne can become Mages.

4. New race and class combinations

Forever adds combinations that were not possible in the original game: Orc Mages, Troll Warlocks, Undead Paladins, Human Hunters, Gnome Priests and Dwarf Shamans.

5. Classic or Enhanced presets

The first time you log in, you pick an Experience Preset. Classic keeps standard-definition models, turns off quest markers, one-bag and transmog, and uses the classic UI layout. Enhanced switches on high-definition models and modern interface features.

6. Rulesets replace realms

Instead of picking a realm, you pick a ruleset: Normal, PvP, Roleplay or Roleplay PvP. Blizzard says a Hardcore ruleset, where death has lasting consequences, will arrive “sometime after launch”.

7. Camping and the Legacy System

The Camping system turns Cooking’s Basic Campfire into a shared campsite, and nearby players can each add a profession-crafted Camp Feature, up to three in total. The new account-wide Legacy System rewards exploring and levelling different classes and tradeskills. Blizzard says every advantage can still be unlocked on a single character.

8. Nine new dungeons, and raids on 9 December

There are nine new five-player dungeons covering levels 13 to 60. On 9 December, level 60 players get three raids: Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit and Onyxia’s Lair.

Last-minute class changes

As Polygon reported, Blizzard’s final pre-launch patch notes raise damage for every class and increase the health of high-level creatures to compensate. The developers said that sticking to the original game’s power budgets “meant that every new element we added needed to come at the expense of something else”. They also wrote: “Our aim in class design is not perfect numerical equality, but rather for every class to feel valuable to the groups they join.”

Other changes include faster creature respawns in lower-level zones to cope with the “large player volumes” Blizzard expects at launch. Gamepad support has also reached what Blizzard calls “a complete functional state”. Blizzard says it will now hold off on balance changes until the raids open on 9 December, then make a “large tuning pass” using live data, including from players who level past 30, the beta’s level cap.

Why it matters

Forever is a major bet by Blizzard on the classic WoW audience. Rather than simply recreating 2004, it adds new zones, races and systems on top. For Indian players, the 4:30 am start is awkward, but the 9 December raid date gives everyone time to level up.
